LELAND HAYDOCK

Leland G. Haydock, 79, of Big Lake passed away April 1, 2008. A service will be held at a later date in Bremerton, Wash.

Born in Everett, Wash., to Velma E. Relling and Aaron G. Haydock, Leland Haydock was a graduate of Bremerton High School. He continued his education at various colleges and universities, and then joined the Air Force.

After completing duty in the Air Force, Haydock moved to Seattle, where he worked for Boeing Aircraft Co. as well as several other places in Seattle and Oakland, Calif. Then he found the job that would last him nearly a lifetime when he went to work for the military’s Sealift Transportation, a department of the Navy, as a supply officer. During the ensuing years, he traveled extensively, including the Pacific Ocean, the Orient, Japan, Vietnam, Korea and many South Seas islands. In addition, Haydock sailed the Atlantic Ocean and visited many European countries. He had an amazing life as he traveled the globe.

He retired in 1988 and lived in Bremerton, Wash., until he moved to Alaska. He’s been a resident of Alaska since 2005, living primarily in Palmer and Wasilla.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Malloy of Wasilla; brother Benjamin G. Haydock of Port Orchard; nieces and nephews Marilyn Lee Schwartz, Susna Elizabeth Kamile, Kelly Jo Koffard, Coreen Haydock Johnson, Laureen Dee Lund, Duane G. Haydock, and Wayne and Greg Keffer; aunts, uncles and many great nieces and nephews.

Haydock was preceded in death by his mother Velma E. Relling and father Aaron G. Haydock; sister Joyce Haydock Keffer; and nephew Dale O. Haydock.
