Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Wasilla resident Lennie E. Wolverton, 63, died March 5, 2011, at the Alaska Regional Medical Center in Anchorage.
Memorial mass is at 3 p.m., March 11, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 432 East Fireweed Ave., Palmer. Father Jaime Mencias will officiate.
Lennie was born Feb. 26, 1948, to Kenneth and Alice (Crawford) Cronister at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in California. She moved to Wasilla in 1982, where she lived since. Lennie was an accountant at the Mat-Su Borough for several years. After retiring from the borough, she worked at Clitheroe Center and Nugen’s Ranch. Throughout her career she made several lifelong friends.
Lennie enjoyed gardening, crosswords, needlecrafts, crocheting, sewing, reading, camping, snowmachining and four-wheeling.
“Lennie’s gift in life was helping others,” wrote the family.
Lennie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert J. Wolverton; and grandson, Michael Wolverton. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Michael E. Wolverton; son and daughter in-law, Shawn M. and Hope Wolverton; daughter, Shannan A. Wolverton; grandsons, Coty J. Wolverton and Kyle D. Sumner; granddaughter, Jamie L. Enderson-Wolverton; great-granddaughter, Shantelle A. Dennis; five brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lennie’s memory to St. Michael Catholic Church, 432 East Fireweed Lane, Palmer, AK 99645.
