Leo Joesph Landry, 55, the fourth child of Margaret and Cecil L. Landry Sr., was born Sept. 3, 1958. Leo’s brothers and sisters, Margaret “Peg” Mercer, Cecil and James and soon-to-come Jeffrey and Jan completed the Landry family.

After graduating from Glen Oaks High in Baton Rouge, La., Leo’s adventurous spirit lead him north to Alaska, which he called home from then on. Beginning with the logging industry in southeast, then aboard his fishing boat the Alida to the frozen tundra of the North Slope, Leo showed dedication and pride in all his endeavors.

The greatest joy in Leo’s life came from his three beautiful daughters, Carmelite Russell, Melanie Landry and Whitney Landry, and the five precious grandchildren they gave him — Jacob, Jackson, Cody, Trevor, Amelia and baby Sawyer Leo, due March 2014.

A world traveler, Leo found true love in the Philippines with Analiza Patoc. Leo had a true understanding of loyal friendship and spoke regularly to his many, many friends sharing his hopes and dreams with us all.

He planned to retire one day from CH2MHill, where he admired so many and he himself was thought very highly of, to spend the rest of his days at his new home in Wasilla and at his camp in Louisiana, fishing and enjoying life with his family.

Leo’s untimely passing left a void in many lives; however, he is no doubt off to another grand adventure.

Services are at 11 a.m., Feb. 28 at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla. Visitation is at 10 a.m., Feb. 28.
