Leonard Earl Hill

Born July 20, 1940 in American Fork, Utah to parents Leonard W. Hill and Reva Alice Turner.

Leonard passed away March 10, 2022 of a Heart Attack.

Leonard grew up in Ogden and Roy Utah. He lived a short time in California when his father worked at a defense plant. He started working at a young age. He liked working and worked until he had a stroke in December 2013.

On April 14th, 1961 he married Mary Elizabeth Pendleton, the love of his life, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married more than 60 years until his death.

He opened the first Zales Jewelry store in Alaska in 1968. He was the youngest manager in their company. He learned how to make and create jewelry while living in Alaska. He created beautiful gold nugget jewelry and had his own jewelry business until he had his stroke.

He learned to fly while he and his family lived in Chugiak and took them on many adventures here in Alaska and even flying his Cessna 180 from Alaska to Utah to attend his 20th class reunion. His wife and two of his children accompanied him on that trip.

Leonard and Elizabeth have four children. Leonard Mace Hill, Sherrille Ann Van Horn, Brett Kim Hill and Troy Eric Hill. Six grandchildren; Brittany, Kristin, Jonathan, Maci, Valori Hill and Alexandrea Van Horn. Three great grandkids, Dillon, Tony, and Rose Hill.

Leonard and Elizabeth lived in several states but always came back to Alaska. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping. He took his family and grandkids on many adventures in his plane. He was happy when the grandchildren could go with him. He served 8 ½ years in the Anchorage Alaska Temple.

Leonard loved America and was a true Patriot! He will be missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife and children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His funeral will be held Saturday March 19, 2022. Location; Church of the Latter-Day Saints-Knik Chapel.
