Leonard H. Murray of Bradenton, Florida died in his home wrapped in the arms of his family on May 25th at 2017 at the age of 76.
He was born to Harriet and Leroy Murray, and grew up in Stony Creek, Connecticut where he married his high school sweetheart Frances Rourke Murray.
Life brought Len and his family to Alaska in 1975, where he built his home in Wasilla. Len was a home builder, avid fisherman, flying enthusiast and an active church member. He and Fran raised their children and enjoyed life in Alaska for 30 years. Len was the locksmith for the Mat-Su School District. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Bradenton, Florida where they enjoyed the ocean and shelling on the beaches he loved. In his retirement years, he perfected his long time hobby of scroll sawing; he was a true craftsman. With great pride, he would tell people that his work was all over the world.
Len is survived by his loving wife Frances Murray of 56 years, his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Steven Miller of Dallas, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Grant Davis of Flower Mound, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Yvonne Murray of Stony Creek, Connecticut; his sister and brother in law, Susan and Charles Torre of Stony Creek, Connecticut; and his grandchildren: Renee Brill, Casey Brill, Megan Brill, Joshua Davis and Gavin Davis.
Len was a true and loyal friend to many, willing to share a story, help or show kindness to those in need.
He never met a stranger.
