Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident LeRoy F. Jensen, 85, died with his loving family at his side on Feb. 19, 2013, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
No services are scheduled at LeRoy’s request. His ashes will be scattered at Hatcher Pass.
LeRoy was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Rice Lake, Wisc., to Christ and Minnie Jensen.
LeRoy was a proud veteran who served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired in 1974 at Fort Sheridan, Ill., after more than 18 years of dedicated service. LeRoy was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church.
The family wrote: “LeRoy was a kind, generous and loving man — a true servant of God. Our lives are better because of his love.”
Surviving are his wife, Thony Marie Jensen of Palmer; and daughter, Sheila Marie Jensen of Wasilla.

Valley Funeral Home and Crematory took care of arrangements for the family.
