Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident, Leroy George Boies Jr., passed away suddenly on April 19, 2024. Leroy was born July 14, 1960, in Anchorage to Leroy George Sr. and Virginia Boies.
He lived in Anchorage and moved to Wasilla in 2001. He worked in construction and laborers and in later years he liked to work on cars.
Leroy loved the outdoors and especially being around a big campfire with friends and family. Leroy had a friendly smile, nod, laughter, and a keen sense of humor. He was resilient and strong in nature and loved his family.
He always helped and welcomed those in need, he will be deeply missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Boies Sr., And Virginia O’Donnell and his sister Valerie Ann Smith. He is survived by his sisters, Jennifer Coughlin, Debra (Glenn) Morris, Denise (William Jr.) Morris and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 2,2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Legacy Heritage Chapel at Angelus., 440 E Klatt Road. A Family burial service will be held later at Angelus Memorial Park cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Matsu Food Bank or a charity of choice are welcome.
