Leslie Dwayne Parmenter

Leslie Dwayne Parmenter, 88, died Aug. 22, 2012, in Carson City, Nev., from a cerebrovascular accident.

A service is at 1 p.m., Oct. 16 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Leslie was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Royal, Neb., to Daniel and Pearl Parmenter. Years after he moved to Anchorage in 1935, Leslie entered the U.S. Army at Fort Richardson in 1943. He served his country during World War II until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

During his military career he served in the Signal Aircraft Warning Co. 713th in the Aleutian Islands, where he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Leslie worked for the Alaska Railroad in 1945 until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed fishing at Hidden Lake, hunting and dancing.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline Parmenter of Carson City, Nev.; son and spouse, Richard and Wanda Parmenter of Wasilla; daughter, L. Cathy Schadek of Anchorage; son and spouse, Kenneth and Debbie Parmenter of Anchorage; daughter and spouse, Perri and Mick Lajoie of Palmer; son and spouse, David and Carla Parmenter of Glennallen; grandchildren, Jason, Dana and Matthew Schadek of Anchorage; Michael Parmenter of Anchorage; Autumn Jacob, Denise Parmenter and Darlene Parmenter of Wasilla; Cody Parmenter; Brady Parmenter of Glennallen; and, great-grandkids, Lillian R. Jacob, Trentin C. Jacob of Wasilla, Hailey Parmenter and Audrey Parmenter.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Daniel M. and Pearl Parmenter.
