Lester Newton Utterback died at home Jan. 6, 2008, following a long struggle with congestive heart failure.
Utterback was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved the outdoors. He and his wife, Patsy, moved to the Palmer area in 1976 from northern Idaho. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Utterback loved horses and hunted with them, worked with them, raised horses and played with them.
He is survived by son Rick (Patty) Jackson and their two sons, Aaron and Brian, of Crawfordsville, Ind.; daughter Linda (Steve) Wise and their children and grandchildren of Newtown, Ind.; and son Monty Joe Utterback and his family of Crawfordsville, Ind. Utterback also made many friends who became his family in Alaska, and he will be missed by them all.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Wasilla.
