Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lillian Catherine Rathbun, 94, died Sept. 11, 2007, of natural causes at her home in Wasilla. By her side were daughter Gail Reynolds her daughter, grandson Guy Mcwhorter and Tammy Deford.
Rathbun was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Connecticut. She married Kenneth Perry Rathburn on Oct. 22, 1928, and they were blessed with two children. Son, Kenneth Lisle Rathburn and daughter Reynolds.
She came to Alaska to live with her daughter in July 2000. She loved Alaska, but missed her home in Selma, Ore. She played the Organ, loved to crochet and gardening. She also loved to go on vacation and play the slot machines.
Rathbun’s husband, Kenneth P. Rathburn, preceded her in death in January 1991. She married her second husband, Isaac Bentley Rathbun, in December 1991, who preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1999. Her son also preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
