Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Linda D. Kaer, 63, died Nov. 30, 2012, at her home surrounded by her daughter and granddaughters in Big Lake.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at the end of January.
Linda was born Dec. 22, 1948, in Kankakee, Ill., to William and Dorthey Garwick. She moved to Eagle River in June 1989 and later lived in Big Lake.
“She was a wonderful mother and grandmother,” her family wrote. “She was thoughtful and giving and enjoyed baking with her grandchildren. She will be missed by many. She is finally at peace, joining her beloved husband.”
Surviving are her daughter, Debra Rainey of Big Lake; son, Gary Rainey of Eagle River; step-son, Randy Kaer of Big Lake; granddaughters, Heather Rainey, Brittany Rainey, Alecia Kaer and Rachael Kaer of Big Lake, Stephanie Rainey of Anchorage, Michaela Jemar of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mercedes Rainey of Eagle River; grandson, Tony Koon of Anchorage; sisters, Patty Mosback of Vancouver, Wash., Janice Bothwell of Richmond, Wash., and Susan Hammond of Medford, Ore.; brother, William Garwick of Eagle River; daughters-in-law, Susan Kaer of Big Lake and Jeanie Rainey of Eagle River; son-in-law, Wade Koon of Big Lake; and step-daughter, Holly Binkley of Florida.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard Kaer; both parents; and younger brother, Gregory Garwick.
Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home.
