Linda Dorothy Agnes Alden

Longtime Wasilla resident Linda Dorothy Agnes Alden, 67, died Jan. 4, 2013, surrounded by family at her home in Wasilla.

A celebration of Linda’s life is at 3 p.m., Jan. 18 at Valley Funeral Home, 151 East Herning Ave., Wasilla.

Linda was born Feb. 5, 1945, to Arnold Paul and Gladys Agnes (Gonyer) Broduer in Portland, Maine. She moved to Wasilla in 1976 and never wanted to be anywhere else. Linda graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage with a degree in psychology in 1986. She had worked at Brown Jug Liquor at the ShopRite Mall in Wasilla since 2003. She loved her job and all of her customers. Linda always gave to charity, even if she only had a dollar. She enjoyed cross-stitch and playing Gameboy, gardening and berry picking.

“Linda was the strongest and bravest, smartest, kindest and most generous person anyone would ever know,” wrote her daughter, Missy. “She loved Wasilla and all of the people here. She always said there is nowhere else on the earth she would rather be. Linda loved her job and her coworkers. She looked forward to going to work every day so she could see her many friends. Thank you for all the kindness you have shown my mom over the years. She loved you all.”

Preceding her in death was her adopted son, John Bay, who died in a motorcycle accident.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Tenna (Houston) MarcAurele of Wasilla; granddaughter, Christeena Dawn MarcAurele of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa “Missy” Anne MarcAurele and Eddie Ethrington of Wasilla; granddaughter, Mickayla Ham of Wasilla; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Brodeur of Connecticut, Steve and Shirley Brodeur of Florida and Peter and Joan Brodeur of Connecticut.
