Longtime Alaskan resident Linda L. Stephens, 68, passed away at home November 6, 2014 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Linda was born on July 21, 1946, in Cheboygan, Michigan. The family moved to Alaska in 1981. Linda was a stay at home mom and she enjoyed homemaking and raising her family. She was raised in the Catholic Church.
Linda was a loving woman who enjoyed donating her time back to the community and giving to those in need. She was a mother to most she came in contact with. She enjoyed planting in her garden, garage selling with her daughter and shopping at second hand stores. She was always cooking or canning fruits and vegetables. No one ever left her house hungry. Linda loved spending time with her family.
Linda was survived by her husband of 51 years, Chet Stephens; son, Drew Stephens; daughters, Andrea Benson and Prissy Stephens; son and daughter, Jim and Lacey Rego; grandsons, Scott Lee, Skyler Stephens, Travis Bayle and Killian Bayle; granddaughters, Kadie Lee, Autym Benson, Emily Stephens, Ashley Bayle all from Wasilla.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Woodrow and Molly Couture.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Big Lake Community Closet, local food banks, and Mat-Su Special Santa programs or a charity of choice.
Arrangements were cared for by Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel. A guestbook and obituary are online at AlaskanFuneral.com.
