Homer and former Big Lake resident Linda Lee Nicholson, 53, died June 14, 2008 at her home in Homer.
A small celebration of life will be held July 6 at the family cabin on Butterfly Lake, where family and friends will share memories and scatter her ashes over the lake.
Nicholson was born on July 6, 1954 to Roy Chester and Helen Lee (Conley) Isenberg in Anchorage. She attended high school in Anchorage. She attended beauty school and worked as a licensed hairdresser for many years. She was also a culinary artist and worked at several different restaurants and kitchens all over the state.
Nicholson was a lifelong Alaskan and enjoyed the natural beauty of the ocean, mountains and many of the recreational activities the state has to offer, her family wrote.
“Linda was a kind, generous, beautiful person who had many great loves in her life to include walking the beach with her cherished pugs, Maybelline and Bubba, spending summers relaxing at the family cabin on Butterfly Lake with friends and loved ones, gardening, riding snowmachines, four-wheelers and Harleys (motorcycles) with her beloved husband, Scott, boating, jet skiing and flying in her grandparents’ airplane and vacationing in Hawaii,” they wrote. “Perhaps her greatest accomplishment and love of all was raising her son and only child, Travis M. Jones. They had a bond most would envy and shared many wonderful memories including the starting of his own family and giving Linda a grandchild, Travis M. Jones II, her little T.J.”
Nicholson was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Scott Ray Nicholson of Homer; son and daughter in-law Travis and Danielle Jones of Big Lake; grandson Travis “T.J.” Jones II of Big Lake; mother and stepfather Helen Lee and Curtis Stark of Cusick, Wash.; brother and sister-in-law John and Jamie Stark of Cusick, Wash.; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law Tanya and Martin Holbrook of Fargo, N.D.; dearest friends Diana, Lorraine and Fena.
