Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lindell Joy Bobbie Cogdell, 73, died of cancer Jan. 25, 2008, at home in Wasilla.
Cogdell was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Nashville, Ark., where he enlisted in the Army after high school. He was a Christian who enjoyed collecting coins, photography, bluegrass gospel music and “spoiling Connie.”
His family wrote, “He was a very loving man with a gracious heart. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. He is now holding hands with Valerie Rose. His favorite song was Amazing Grace. He passed away peacefully in his sleep, knowing Christ in his heart. Thank you George and Craig for helping my father move on so peacefully.”
He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Loretta and Phillip Champagne of Wasilla; daughters Barbara Miller of Aloha, Ore., Bobbie Nash of Athol, Idaho, and Anna Layne of Gresham, Ore.; son Lindell Cogdell Jr. of Sandy, Ore.; granddaughter Rhiannon Bailey of Dierks, Ark.; special friend Connie in Arkansas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces throughout the United States; and brother Billy Cogdell of Athens, Texas, and nephews Bobby and Ricky.
Cogdell’s ashes will be interred at Roy Cemetery in Arkansas at the foot of his parents’ graves.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Valley Funeral Homes & Crematory of Wasilla and Palmer.
