Lizzie Coon

Lizzie Coon, beloved daughter of Dr. Lynn and Capi Coon, passed away on Monday, July 18 surrounded by her family. Lizzie brought so much joy to people by simply being Lizzie. If a beautiful young woman ever approached you in the community with a greeting of "I love you," it may have been Lizzie. If a young woman came up to you and talked about "Abby, my dog," it was most definitely Lizzie. She had a gift for sensing the goodness in people. She was instantly drawn to loving, compassionate people because that was her essence. Her former elementary school teacher, Mr. Larry Bottjen, continued to see Lizzie and make her feel special for over 26 years. Lizzie loved Jesus, her family, Mr. Bottjen, Uncle Larry, her Secret Pals (Uncle Craig Sabins & Aunt JoAnn Ferris) and close family friend, Betsy Straeter. She was the proud aunt of Bethany, Jaydon, Iris, Ryan, Kirra, Savannah, Elijah and Jaydon's baby sister who is on the way. Lizzie enjoyed traveling, bowling, movies, swimming, singing, napping and going to the MTA Sports Center to socialize (and kind of work out). Her great sense of humor would at times bless her family with sassiness and sarcasm. Lizzie Lou, as her family affectionately called her, will be fiercely missed. Although she had many challenges in life, she never let them get in the way of participating in all things family. She taught her family to be compassionate and see beyond everyone's differences. The Coon Family was forever changed through the love of Lizzie in their lives. Lizzie is loved and never forgotten by Lynn and Capi, Stephanie and Volker, Jonathan and Jamie, David and Michelle, Alex and Jordan, extended family and countless members of the community.

The funeral service will be Saturday, July 23 at 5 p.m. at the Wasilla Bible Church. Reception to follow at church.
