Palmer resident Lois Elaine Schoppe, 80, died Dec. 8, 2014 at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.

Lois was born July 5, 1934, in North Adams, Michigan, to Clifford and Violet Allen. Lois married Bill Schoppe in Michigan on April 19, 1957. Bill and Lois brought the family to Alaska in 1962. They lived in Delta Junction until they moved to their home at Goat Creek in the Mat-Su Valley in 1967. She later moved to her home in Palmer to be close to Bill at the Palmer Veterans and Pioneers Home.

Lois enjoyed singing and gardening — when she wasn’t baking or reading — and was always looking forward to her next travel adventure.

“Lois will be remembered as a woman of strong faith. She was a sweet, witty, kind and generous mom (or grandma) to all who met her. Lois was devoted to her family and friends and made sure that everyone who crossed her threshold felt at home. She was an enthusiastic “food-pusher” who loved baking and giving her sweet treats to everyone, whether they needed them or not. Lois’ light was suddenly extinguished on Earth but there is a new star burning bright in the heavens. She will be forever loved and missed by all whose lives and hearts were touched by her.”

Lois is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill Schoppe and Sage Costa; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Paul Bourgeois; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Curt Grower; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Schoppe and Don Yunker; sisters, Ruth Mann of Michigan and Dollie Fall of Texas; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private burial was held at the Pioneer Cemetery in Palmer on Dec. 12. A memorial service is at 11 a.m., Dec. 20 at the Pioneer Peak Baptist Church, 4355 South Old Glenn Highway.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
