Lois Ketelsen

Lois Ketelsen, age 97, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Wasilla Heritage Chapel, 1015 Check St. in Wasilla.

Lois was born at her family farm in Day County, South Dakota, on March 25, 1920. She married Kedo on April 18, 1942, and they enjoyed 70 wonderful years together. She met him in Huron and later they moved to Plankinton where they raised their four children. They shared many activities together from pheasant hunting, gardening, golfing, and walking. She worked as a paralegal and as an accountant. Kedo and Lois retired to Alaska for new adventures.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Kedo, and son Thomas Ketelsen. She is survived by her son, Jim (MJ) Ketelsen of Vancouver Island, British Columbia; daughters, Diane (Rudy) Demoski and LeAnn Marquard, both of Wasilla, Alaska; daughter-in-law, Florence Ketelsen of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brodie (Amy), Candis (Isaac), Amanda (Artie), Tanna (Doeun), Jenna, Tori (Chris), and Kirbi; great-grandchildren, Kyra, Kaelyn, Brenton, Kaia, Brynlee, Alex, Hunter, Hatcher, Ashton, and Keita.

Lois was very dedicated to her family and loved visiting with all of her friends at the Senior Center. She was a lifelong member of the Valley Garden Club and enjoyed crocheting in her spare time. She absolutely loved to dance and sing. She was a proud Norwegian who enjoyed making Lefse for the holidays.

Her Grandchildren described her as Lovable, Kind, Caring, Precious, Strong, Feisty, Supportive, and Inspiring. Grandma was the heart and rock of “Our” Family.

Lois will be buried beside Kedo at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery in Anchorage, Alaska.
