Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lois Virginia (Wachtel) Contois, 92, passed away on October 16, 2018. Lois was born on December 20, 1925, to Frank and Elsie (Peterson) Wachtel in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lois’ husband, Harold L. Contois preceded her death in 2007. She is survived by her loving children, Linda Herrin (James) of Brentwood, CA, and Steven Contois (Paula Nance) of Wasilla, AK; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She volunteered at McClellan Field during WWII and was active in her church, First Church of God, leading youth group, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. She worked in the grocery industry as a bookkeeper for over ten years. She married Harold in 1957, a devoted wife for 50 years until he passed.
Visitation will be held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn (6100 Stockton Blvd) on Tuesday, October 23, at 10:00 am. Her funeral begins at 11:00 am, followed by internment. The family requests any donations to Hospice of the East Bay.
