Loren C. “Downtown” Browne, 56, died July 10, 2008 at Mat-Su Regional Medical center in Palmer.

The will be a celebration of his life at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at the VFW Hall in Wasilla.

Browne was born March 3, 1952 in Palmer and graduated from Wasilla High School in 1971. He remained in and around Wasilla for the rest of his life.

He worked construction and was in the gravel business with his father for many years. He was also known for his love of music and playing the drums and doing his own version of “Wipe Out.”

“Loren, known to his friends as ‘Downtown Browne’ or ‘Loney’ will surely be missed by many, many friends and family,” his family wrote.

He is survived by his sister Janeil Browne of Anchorage; brother Neil A. Browne III of Nevada; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jane and Neil.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3851 Piper St., Suite U240 Anchorage, AK 99508.

Valley Funeral Home and Crematories of Palmer and Wasilla assisted the family.
