Lorraine Woolsey

August 25, 1931 - December 14, 2024

Long time Alaskan Lorraine Dorothy Woolsey 93 of Wasilla passed away peacefully on December 14, 2024, at Northern Comfort Assisted Living Home in Wasilla. Lorraine was born to George and Mary Quaintance in New London, WI on August 25, 1931, the 12th of twelve children. She attended Most Precious Blood School, graduating high school from Washington High in New London.

After meeting and marrying Robert (Bob) L Woolsey, Sr. on March 31, 1951, she moved to Waupaca, WI where they started a family. In Waupaca Lorraine worked at the Zwicker Knitting Mill with her sister Joan.

After moving to Alaska in 1966 with her family, Lorraine worked at Peggy's Restaurant before working at Providence Hospital until her retirement in 1991. Lorraine and Bob then moved to Wasilla to enjoy their retirement.

Lorraine loved any reason to have the family get together. Especially holidays right down to Halloween, seeing the children's costumes while handing out candy. She like her sister; loved old movies such as Murder She Wrote and Charlie Chan.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert of 73 years, her parents, brothers and sisters, son Richard (Dickie), granddaughter Kori Hornstein Williams, great granddaughter Kara Lamb, son in laws Lynn Mountford and Robert Hornstein.

She is survived by daughters; Kathleen Mountford and Linda Hornstein; sons; Robert Woolsey, Jr (Sandi) and Scot Woolsey; 11 Grandchildren; 19 Great grandchildren; and 7 Great-great grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held on December 27th, 2024, with Father Madison Hayes, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla. Pallbearers will be Lorraine's granddaughter's; Cherie Conlin, Kristin Huckaba, Sally Dial, Charlene Shutt, Jamie Bowser, and Shelby Eller.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Alaska Wasilla.
