Lory Raymond “Tiny” Huntsman

Lory Raymond "Tiny" Huntsman, 72, died Jan. 20, 2012, after a long illness at home in Palmer with his beautiful bride, Patti "P.J.", by his side.

Tiny was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Overton, Nev., to Delbert and Nora Kay Huntsman. He was raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was a state champion wrestler both as a high school junior and senior, setting records that still stand. He attended Brigham Young University on an athletic scholarship, competing in both wresting and football. After college, Tiny served in the U.S. Army.

In the 1980s, he moved to Alaska. He owned and operated Tiny's Sales and Leasing. Tiny, generous to a fault, loved horse racing, auto racing, sports, hunting and fishing, but most important to him was spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Patti Jean Huntsman; children and their spouses, Tory Huntsman, Susan Huntsman Foster, Bret and Karen Huntsman, Kim Dice, Kelle Huntsman, Michelle and Hans Deemer, Nolan and Louann Anderton, Kevin and Josie Murphy, Crystal Flynn and Jenn; 23 grandchildren; 11-plus great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike and Russ Huntsman; and sisters, Delma Olsen, Jeanie McQuivey and Francis Harris, all of Utah.

Preceding him in death was his daughter, Jeni.

A celebration of Tiny's life is at 5 p.m., Feb. 4 at in his home, 2930 S. Bodenburg Loop, in Palmer.

Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory in Wasilla cared for the family.
