Louis Eugene Mayer M.D., 84, passed away May 26, 2024. Born September 8th, 1939. Resident of Alaska since August 1967. Louis met and married Lillian Mayer in Williamsport, PA.
Family physician from 1971 - 2016.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, and his books. Dogged in his pursuit of knowledge, devoted to his patients, proud of his military service, and AK state defense force. He delighted in having grandchildren and great grandchildren. Louis searched relentlessly for spiritual truth, he was a joker, storyteller, and a man of his word.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Mayer; daughter, Joyce Mayer; sons, Louis Mayer Jr., David Mayer, Stephen Mayer, son-in-law; Douglas Franklin, daughters-in-law; Joanna Mergler Mayer, Betsy Mayer, Tammy Mayer, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father; Walter Mayer, mother; Martha Mayer, brothers; Earl Mayer, Walter Mayer, sister; Mary Whitenight, and granddaughter; Stella Franklin.
Celebration of life/ Open House will take place at the residence of 2343 Elias Drive, June 15th from 1-5PM. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
