Lt. Col. Theodore Kinney, 80, passed away March 3, 2023, at the Alaska Pioneer Home in Palmer.
Ted was born in Medford, Oregon, on May 3, 1942, to Hilda and Theodore Kinney.
He attended Oregon State University where he earned a Bachelor of Forestry degree. He later obtained his Masters of Business Administration at Indiana University.
Ted served 20 years in the United State Air Force having been recognized with many service medals throughout his career to include the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medals. Upon his Air Force retirement, Ted worked a 25-year career with the Department of Corrections for the State of Alaska.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmachining, and their cabin.
Ted is survived by his wife of 57 years Rayda; his children, Hanna (Ron), Sally (Max), and Carl (Lona); his grandchildren, Emalie (Patrick), Laura, Maddie, and Rosalyn; as well as his nieces, Chris and Kathy and his nephews, Ron and Pat.
A graveside service will be held on June 10, 2023, at the Mt. View Cemetery in Ashland, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to your favorite charity or planting a tree in Ted’s memory honoring his love of forestry.
