Lucas Mitchell Starr

12, of Wasilla, Alaska, passed away peacefully at home on 12 July 2019 with his family surrounding him.

A memorial service and celebration of life is was held on Saturday, 27 July 2019. A service was followed by a vanilla ice cream and chocolate cake reception (Lucas’ favorite) at Janssen’s Mat-Su Funeral Home, 6901 E Blue Lupine Dr, Palmer, Alaska. All were welcome to attend to honor this young, brave man.

Lucas was the first born to Devon and Whitney Starr in Wasilla, Alaska. His life was filled with adventure outside and virtually on the NASCAR track. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he could often be found riding trails around the valley or racing the track in go-carts. Though frequent medical appointments were part of his growing up, they didn’t diminish his zest for loving and living life to the fullest at his tender age. If he wasn’t actually outdoors, he was virtually on the NASCAR track. He loved the high-speed race, the camaraderie, and the technical driving skills needed to master the races, and he was good at it! Lucas touched many lives, inspiring so many people, including those he didn’t know from around the world, through the Team Lucas Facebook page, which chronicled his journey. He had an infectious smile, a humorous personality, and a joy for living. Lucas’ dedicated parents and extended family offered him the best life in the most loving way.

Lucas is survived by his younger sister, Kaylee, his parents, Devon and Whitney, aunts and uncles and both sets of grandparents.
