Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Luella Robison Eggleston, 72, passed away Sept. 18, 2015, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
A beloved housewife and mother, and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Luella was born March 16, 1943, in San Fernando, California, to Frank and Fern Robison. Luella began her life in Alaska in 1961. She met her husband of more than 50 years, Ron Eggleston, in 1962, and the happy pair married July 6, 1962.
“Luella was the wind beneath my wings. She was always in the background, but supporting me in whatever endeavor I pursued,” Ron said.
A resident of Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Palmer, and Big Lake, Luella loved to quilt, enjoyed her family and loved Alaska.
“Mom was the glue that kept the family together, sometimes having to be both father and mother raising children with a slope worker. She will be missed by her family and all that came in contact with her,” Luella’s son Bruce said.
Luella is survived by her husband Ron of 53 years, brothers, Carl Robison, Frank (Cherie) Robison, sisters, Darlene Rynearson, Eva Ann (Dennis) Hillman, all of Utah, five children, Jaelene (David) Boyce of Mathis, Texas, Bruce (Kelly) Eggleston of Willow, Jerry (Donna) Eggleston of Rochester, New York, Laren (Wendy) Eggleston of Anchorage, Alaska, Pamela Eggleston of Palmer, AK, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Luella was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Margaret Swensen.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Wasilla Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, next to Wasilla High School. Her ashes will be interred at the MacArthur Cemetery in Naples, Idaho.
