Lyle Hanson

The angels escorted Lyle Hanson home on March 17th, 2024. Lyle was born on December 15, 1956, in Saginaw, Michigan while his family was on a short vacation from Alaska. Lyle then lived a short spell in Lebanon, Oregon from the age of 8-19.

Alaska was always in Lyle's heart, so he returned at the young age of 19. He then purchased property in the Butte and hand built his forever log home.

Lyle had countless adventures and life experiences. Times in the Bahamas, Hawaii, New Zealand, and many more. Lyle would always return to his beloved home where he knew every stream, trail, valley, mountain range, and all the best fishing holes. Which he would not disclose its location of, but as an avid pilot, hunter and fisherman he would share experiences with those close to him.

Lyle was known by all as a genius, fashioning his own tools, piloting all over the beautiful state, and growing an amazing vegetable garden. For Lyle that always meant shirts were optional.

Lyle did everything from working on a farm spreading silage, sometimes in the face of a 40-knot wind. He also performed cattle drives in the Hatcher Pass area. Then from 1977-2007 Lyle worked for Matanuska Telephone Association as a lineman. He was very respected for being a truly hardworking man.

Over the years Lyle worked as a self-proclaimed fish and bear overpopulation management. At last count he harvested 55 bears and countless fish of all types.

Lyle Hanson has been preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Beatrice Hanson, as well as siblings Lee, Pete, and Holly Hanson.

Lyle leaves behind his love Charlotte Hanson. He is survived by his sister Linda Hanson and brothers Larry and Dean Hanson. Also survived by his daughter Megan Craig (Michael) along with the bonus kids in his life Nita Dukes (Wally B.), Cassie Hardy (Ryan), Ely Luckett (Heather), and Charity Bell (Nick). He was Papa to 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who adored him tremendously. He will also be missed by Buddy.

We will have a Celebration of Life for Lyle on Saturday March 23rd, 2024 at Kehl's Palmer Legacy Funeral Home at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes you to consider making a donation to Saint Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Lyle.
