Marcia McDaniel, 99, died Aug. 2, 2012, at her home in Palmer.
A celebration of life is from 2 to 4 p.m., Aug. 26 at 2024 N. Rush Circle, Palmer.
Marcia was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Hopewell, Ind., to George and Gertrude Demaree. Marcia moved to Palmer in 2000. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, Ind.
“She loved family gatherings, a good game of cards, a good romance story, cherry pie, and wouldn’t dream of missing an Indiana college basketball game — even though she has lived in Alaska for the last 13 years,” her family wrote.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Heath of Palmer; sons, George McDaniel of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Dudley McDaniel of Santa Fe, N.M.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter P.; two sisters and three brothers — all from Indiana; and parents, George W. and Gertrude Demaree.
