Margie Lynne Gabrielle, 54, of Wasilla, passed away June 22, 2014, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services are June 28 at the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church, 1029 LA Hwy 700, Rayne, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery.

Margie was born in Germany on March 5, 1960. The family moved to Lafayette, Louisiana, where she attended schools and graduated from Acadia High School in 1978. She attended the Indian Bayou Methodist Church. The family relocated to Alaska in 1980, where she has resided since.

Margie worked at Matanuska Telephone Association from 1985 to 2012, holding many positions during her employment, from Plant Clerk, Service Representative, Public Relations Specialist, Directory Assistant, and Executive Assistant. She was known as a creative genius for changing how MTA reached out to the community, with her fun-loving, enthusiastic, and can-do attitude. Margie didn’t just participate in the community parades, she was the parade. With her legendary “Pink Ladies” MTA dance team, which she choreographed herself, she added enthusiasm and flare to each event. Her co-workers said that Margie would work tirelessly for their community sponsored events and never asked for anything in return. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and infectious smile.

Margie thoroughly enjoyed her involvement in numerous organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association, United Way Mat-Su, Valley Woman’s Resource Center and Toys for Tots.

Margie enjoyed several hobbies including, crafts, sewing, dancing and quail hunting. She was well known for her cooking abilities. Margie loved people and people loved her. She touched lives everywhere she went and will be greatly missed. She and her husband, Michael, met in Wasilla and were married for 33 years.

Margie is survived by her husband, Michael Gabrielle; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Scott Michaelson; son, Micah Gabrielle; and granddaughter, Avery Mae Michaelson, all of Wasilla, Alaska; her mother, Margie Garrett of Louisiana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Becky Garrett of Texas, Ronnie and Kelly Garrett, Danny and Dana Garrett, and sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Bobby Powell, all of Louisiana; and her father and mother-in-law, Joe and Diane Gabrielle, of Wasilla.

She was preceded in death by her daddy, Ronald Garrett.

Locally, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margie’s name to the United Way Mat-Su, PO Box 872485, Wasilla, AK 99687. Flowers are welcome at the services in Louisiana.

A celebration of Margie’s vibrant life is being planned for her Alaska friends and family. An announcement will be made once a date has been determined.
