Marguerite Pearl Leslie

Marguerite Pearl Leslie went home to her Lord on April 29, at 12:37pm.

Marguerite was born on Dec 9, 1931 to Henry C. Schinck and Lela A. Leslie, of South Bend Indiana. On Sept 1939, Henry received his U.S. Naturalization papers. The whole family then changed their last names to Leslie. Marguerite graduated from John Adams High School, May 1950 and married Robert Meredith soon after. Marguerite met her second husband Bill Newman and married him in 1956. Marguerite never liked living in the same place for more than a couple of years, but in May 1970 they made the biggest move of all, when they moved to Alaska.

Marguerite found secretarial and accounting work in the Palmer area, at Kosloski, MEA and Herman Brothers. In 1972 they bought a restaurant in Wasilla called “the Buzz Inn”. In 1986 Bill and Marguerites’ marriage was not working out and they divorce. Marguerite then moved to Anchorage, where she worked until she was 67 years old.

She was preceded in death, by her daughter Cheryl Leuthart.

She is survived by her brother Donald Leslie and his wife Gwen, 3 children; Karen Searles, Susan Nail, and (Cheryl Leuthart twin sister) Carol Meyer. She has 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
