Lifelong Valley resident Marie Snider Betts, 93, died Oct. 16, 2014.
Marie was born in Anchorage, the fourth child of Geritt (Heinie) and Alice Snider. Marie lived around the Valley wherever her dad was working at the time; from Pittman where Heinie was working on the railroad to the Highgrade gold mine he staked in the Willow mining district.
Most of her childhood was spent in Wasilla where in 1939 she married Clarence W. (Bill) Betts. Together they raised a family of three sons: Bill, Wylie and Wetzel.
Surviving are her sons, Wylie and Wetzel Betts of Wasilla; granddaughters, Condida of Wyoming and Selina and Solitaire of Oregon; grandson, Bill of Wasilla; great granddaughter, Reidun of Wyoming; and great grandson, Davon of Wasilla.
Marie will be missed by all who knew her. A springtime service is planned in May 2015 and will be posted at that time in the Frontiersman.
