Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Marion J. Duff, 87, passed away May 14, 2014.
She was born June 21, 1926, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, was raised in Mercer, Wisconsin, and graduated from high school there in 1945.
That summer she settled in Palmer with her parents, Carl and Thekla Mielke; and brother, Bob; and sister, Margrye.
She married Bertram Duff in 1950 and worked by his side for many years in the service station and mechanic business. They built their own company, Motor-In Service, in north Palmer. Bert passed away in 1983. Marion then went to work at Lulu’s Greenhouse until her retirement.
In 2011 she moved to the Veterans and Pioneers Home in Palmer.
Surviving are her sister, Margrye (Wayne) Bouwens; sister-in-law, Evelyn Mielke; nieces, Nanette (Merwin) Arneson, Mary Beth (Donnie) Lutrick and Katy (Michael) Bethune; nephews, Tom (Linda Fisch), Roger (Julie) and Kenneth (Mary Beth); and many other extended family members who all have lovingly called her “Aunt Ozzie.”
“She was a very important person in all their lives. She will be greatly missed by all,” her family wrote.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bert; and brother, Robert Mielke.
A family memorial celebration of her life is planned later this summer.
Funeral services were entrusted to Legacy Funeral Homes — Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
