Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Marion Louise Martin, 86, died Feb. 28, 2013, at Northern Comfort Assisted Living in Wasilla.
A celebration of life in honor of Marion will be held at a later date.
Marion was born March 7, 1926, in Spotswood, N.J., to Christian and Sylvia Salzman.
Marion was very proud of her volunteer service with the local medical community. She was recognized for her work and awarded a Volunteer Pin for 2,400 hours served. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
“Everyone who knew her knew her as Nana,” her family wrote. “She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she was the best Nana! We all have our own special memories of her and she will be greatly missed. We would also like to thank the staff at Northern Comfort Assisted Living for taking great care of Nana.”
Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter E. Martin; daughter, Sylvia Carter; daughter, Robin Cole; granddaughter, Jessica Polk; and son-in-law, Willis Alexander.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda Alexander of Wasilla; daughter, Della Haas of Helena, Mont.; and son, Bruce Marriner of Santa Anna, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Valley Funeral Home and Crematory handled arrangements.
