A memorial service for Marion Irene Pippel, is scheduled for June 15th, at 1 p.m. at Anchorage Baptist Temple. Former Alaska resident, Marion Bowen Pippel, passed away, January 27, 2016, at the Hillcrest Home in Harrison, Arkansas, she was 93. Marion was born February 19, 1922, in Ohio, the daughter of Harry Miller and Marjorie Kemp Miller. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, David Pippel of Palmer, Alaska. Arriving in Alaska in 1958, Marion and her husband, Walter Bowen, settled in Eagle River where they built and opened the upscale Lampost Inn. A talented, classy lady, she owned and operated several businesses, among them she was a successful realtor, developer, builder and florist. Marion loved gardening, miniature horses, interior decorating, and spending time with her family. She loved air-boating to their Deshka cabin and canning salmon that bears would try to steal. She was a member of ABT, the Pioneers of Alaska and active as Mrs. Claus throughout Alaska. She resided in both Eagle River and Palmer, Alaska, before moving to Arkansas. Marion is survived by daughters, Nancy Dennis and Patricia Huddleson of Palmer, Janet Desgranges of Arkansas, and Shirley White of New Mexico. She was adored by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
