Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Marjorie J. Burgess, 94, died Oct. 6, 2013.
Marjorie was born July 9, 1919, in Asty, Calif. She moved to Alaska in 1999 and left for a while in 2003, then came back again in 2006 and resided in Palmer. She retired while living in Alaska. She worked as a private duty nurse and with Meals on Wheels through the senior center in Palmer until her health prevented her from continuing. She was a member of the United Protestant Church of Palmer.
Marjorie enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, gardening, embroidering special tablecloths for each new bride and groom and quilting for all the new babies in the family.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jo Armor of Palmer and James and Patricia Armor of North Carolina; daughter, Barbara Aimone of Michigan; a brother and a sister in California; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life is at 2 p.m., Oct. 12 at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla, with a reception following at 3:30 p.m. at the United Protestant Church of Palmer.
