Longtime Talkeetna resident Marge Kimmel, 74, died Feb. 26, 2013, at Billings Clinic in Billings, Mont., with her husband Jean at her side, after a long battle with diabetes.
Marge was born Oct. 19, 1938, in LaValle, Wisc., to Andrew and Lydia (Miller) Rosenbalm. Marge moved to Alaska in 1970 and married Jean Kimmel in 1971. Marge and Jean moved to Talkeetna in 1977 and operated businesses together until their retirement.
Marge was always involved in her community, participating in the Upper Susitna Seniors, Talkeetna Red Hat Society, Upper Susitna Shooters Association and more. Her hobbies included traveling with her husband, cooking, gardening and playing card games with family and friends.
Marge made a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a kind and caring nature, and was always looking for ways to help those in need, often delivering her wonderful home-cooked meals to elderly or ill community members. Her holiday dinners were always a welcome place for those who did not have family near. She had a special place in her heart for children and “adopted” many she treated as her own. She will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to be a part of her life.
Marge is survived by her husband, Jean Kimmel of Sheridan, Wyo.; sisters, Beverly Smith of Evansville, Wisc., Shirley Reinfeldt of Reedsburg, Wisc.; in-laws, June Rosenbalm of Poplar Grove, Ill., Alice and Bernard Harnish and Bill and Shirley Kimmel of Sheridan, Wyo.; and many close and cherished friends and extended family.
No services are planned at this time. Arrangements were made by Kane Funeral Home, Sheridan, Wyo.
