Long time Alaskan resident, Marjorie R. Davis, 76, died peacefully March 17, 2010, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, Maine.
Mrs. Davis was born June 19, 1933, in Dorchester, Mass., to John and Clara Harper (Bassett).
In June 1954 she, her husband Stan and their two young daughters, left Petersham, Mass., and arrived in Palmer. In 1963 and for the following 26 years, Stan and Midge were the sole operators of Spring Creek Farm in the Mat-Su Valley. After the death of her husband, she moved to Liberty, Maine in 2002.
Marjorie enjoyed flower gardening, oil painting and her time actively participating in Womens Aglow. Mrs. Davis also treasured her relationships with family and friends. Her most valued relationship, however, was with the Lord Jesus Christ, of whom she was not ashamed, and gave herself both privately and publicly to prayer and Bible study. She is now enjoying the precious fruit of that most important relationship.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 50 years, Stanley H. Davis; and son-in-law Kenneth Leavitt.
Surviving are Mrs. Davis’ loving and devoted husband, Reginald L. Davis, of Liberty, Maine, with whom she happily shared the last seven years; daughter, Mary Landfear and husband David of Palmer; daughter, April Johnson and husband Dennis of Cleveland, Tenn.; son, Richard Davis and wife Linda of Palmer; daughter Melissa Hagy and husband Scott of Palmer; daughter, Lydia Hunt and husband Ron of Wasilla; step-son Lloyd Davis of Burbank, Calif.; and step-daughter, Betty Lu Brown of Northport, Maine, who worked lovingly and tirelessly to provide the best of care for Midge throughout her recent illness. Other survivors include 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren, great-step-grandchildren and many other family members.
A memorial service was held March 23 at Faith Temple Church of God in Belfast, Maine.
The family will hold a private burial at a later date in Palmer.
