Mark Dennis Lee, 70, passed away at his home surrounded by family on June 5, 2018. Mark was born in Marshfield Wisconsin, February 16, 1948. A resident of Alaska since September 30, 1963, Mark graduated from West High School in 1966, where he started a life of service, community, family and professional leadership. Mark served in the Army and United States Air Force from 1968-1974, followed by professional positions at First National Bank and Nye Ford. An entrepreneur at heart, Mark opened several businesses including his most valued, Lee Realty. Mark’s professional leadership and focus on service earned him awards and accolades including Realtor of the Year 2015. Mark was a founder and active member of Sunrise Rotary, where he was able to continue his love of service as a host to several foreign exchange students and provide hands on support in worldwide improvement projects. Mark served on the Board of Directors at the Valley Performing Arts and was a spokesperson for Mat-Su Regional Hospital. A believer in competition and supporter of hockey, Mark started the Alaska Avalanche, now the Johnstown Tomahawks. Married to his “bride” as he often called her, Christine Lee on July 16, 1977, Chris and Mark shared a passion for travel and their 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mark leaves behind his wife, Christine Lee, son Jason (Emily) Smithson, daughters Yvonne (John) Kuehn, Nannette (Jason) Sperling, Tracie Smithson, Marie (Patrick) Noblett, sister Judith (Robert) Beesing, sisters in law Kathleen Pierce, and Teresa Smith, grandchildren Taylor (Devin) Johnson, Kobe and Connor Smithson, Hayden and Madison Kuehn, Chloe and Rowan Sperling, Jasmine, Zoe, Sasha, and Noah Willet, and Victoria Maynez, Katelyn and Chase Noblett, great grandchildren Olivia, Jade and Devin Johnson, nieces and nephews Michel (Karen) Carney, Joseph Carney, Thomas (Winona) Beesing, Mark (Stephanie) Beesing, Mathew Beesing, Sister Mary Theresa OCD, Caren (Dan) Alsides, Mary Carney. A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 4-7PM at the Palmer Ice Rink. A viewing is scheduled for the same day from 11AM-2PM at the Wasilla Heritage Chapel.
