Marlena Lynn Crump

Longtime Kenai residen, Mrs. Marlena Lynn Crump, 52, died May 20, 2010 at her home after a long, brave battle with cancer. Her family was by her side.

A celebration of life potluck for Lynn will be held June 19 at noon at the Leif Hanson Memorial Park in Kenai. If anyone has photos of Lynn to share at the celebration, please e-mail them to jlcrump@mtaonline.net for the slideshow.

Mrs. Crump was born Nov. 6, 1957, in Dos Palos, Calif. She had lived in Alaska for more than 20 years. Lynn loved collecting unicorns, arts and crafts and most of all supporting her husband with his passion for drag racing.

The family wrote, “Lynn was a very special and unique woman. She was loved by many for her witty, sarcastic sense of humor. She always had an opinion and didn’t care who knew it. She strove to be the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend that she knew how to be. To our father, she was not only a wife, but his best friend. Lynn was a simple and humble woman and didn’t like anyone fussing over her. She put up one heck of a fight and was able to keep her independence until the very end. Lynn will always be loved and will be forever missed.”

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Lee Gillespie Blaker; father, Charles Carlen Blaker; and brother, Michael Allen Blaker.

She is survived by her husband, John Crump Sr. of Kenai; brother, Charles Blaker of Virginia; step-sons Paul Samakin of Kenai and John Crump Jr. of Florida; step-daughter Jolene Campbell of Wasilla; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
