Marlene McNabb passed away peacefully on Feb. 23, 2017, in Spokane Valley. She began life on July 17, 1934, in Winlock, Washington.
She was raised in Vader on her family’s farm, while attending school in Castle Rock. She later moved to Alaska where she built a life with her husband, Billy McNabb. Marlene had a generous heart. She would often feed the homeless from her back porch, shelter youth who needed a safe place to stay, or offer a kind word to anyone who was struggling.
She lived her life with character and compassion, always offering support to those who needed it. Marlene loved the company of children, her gardens, and doing just about anything with her family. She was an artisan and made hundreds of ceramic pieces that adorn the homes of many.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy McNabb, who passed in 2015. She is survived by her daughter, Geri Warner; her stepchildren, whom she loved and raised as her own, Morris McNabb, Eddy McNabb, Connie Byers, and Carl McNabb; eight grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many distant relatives and friends.
A memorial to celebrate Marlene’s life will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the Winlock Community Building in Winlock, Washington. A graveside service for both Billy and Marlene will follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, please consider performing an act of kindness in Marlene’s memory.
