Martin Franklin Summers

Martin “Marty” Summers our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away September 7, 2016 at his home in Houston, Alaska after a courageous battle with cancer.

Marty was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska later moving out to Houston. He enjoyed many things in life. Being a lifelong Alaskan he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending a lot of time at the drag strip and various car shows. He enjoyed tinkering with anything motorized, working on any of his many projects around the yard, and finding and bringing more projects home.

More than anything he loved his family and spending time with them, from just hanging out to working on or building something with them. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his wife; going on trips through Hatchers Pass and driving around to yard sales.

Marty’s love for life and family was present in everything he did. He had a laid back, loving personality with a willingness to help anyone in need.

Marty is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Eva Joan Summers.

He is survived by his wife Sally; brother, Larry; sister, Vanessa; children, Candice, Jessica and Martin, Forrest and Amy; grandchildren Darius, Kiley, Brian, Zander, Logan, Jackson and Genevieve, Joniel and Joselyn.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday September 13, 2016, at Valley Funeral Home & Crematory at 10:00 A.M. Arrangements were under the direction of Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
