Marvin Olson chose the wonder of Alaska rather than retirement in Florida; he passed away at age 78, on July 13, 2016. He didn’t stay long enough to acquire many buddies, but he appreciated his companions at the MSSS Adult Day Services in Palmer. A viewing will be at 1pm on July 19th at the Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary. Starting at 2pm, a gathering will be happening at 1191 S. Katie Circle where Marv resided with his wife, Maridie, friends are invited to come by afternoon or evening. The burial will be on July 20th at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
Marv was born in Two Harbors, MN and moved to Seattle, WA where he met his wife Maridie. He is also survived by 4 children; Tana in Metlakatla, Christian in Virginia, Matthew and Laura in Seattle; 4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters in Buckland; 1 granddaughter in Metlakatla; 2 ½ greatgrandchildren; 1 sister-in-law, Judy and assorted nieces and nephews. When the big Sears store in Seattle closed, he was one of the last ones out the door; with electrical, plumbing and construction skills he ran his own business until he retired. The family would like to thank the Palmer Senior Center, Family Christian Center, Denali Native New Life Church, The Alzheimer’s Resource of Alaska, Lavon Barve’s Full Gospel Men’s fellowship Luncheon, his compassionate caregivers, neighbors and friends with TLC, and the volunteer firefighters that were there in his time of need.
