Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

On Jan. 27, 2015, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, while surrounded by family, passed from her earthy role to her home in heaven. She was 79 years old.
Mary Ann Olson was born May 6, 1935, in Gavilan, New Mexico, to Dorotha Wion and Walter Howard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Wayne LeRoy Myers and three brothers and two sisters.
Her legacy of survivors includes her husband of 42 years, Alan G. Olson of the family home; daughter, Sherry L. Blodgett (Bill), Kirtland, New Mexico; sons, Howard W. Myers (Colleen), Raymond W. Myers, Jody B. Myers (Terrie), Doug Olson, all of Palmer and Jeff Olson of Gresham, Oregon; brother, Raymond L. Howard (Eloise) and sister, Nellie Jo Miller, both of Kirtland, New Mexico; beloved grandchildren, Wayne Sexton (Jackie), Kalea Myers, Brandon Myers, Joel Myers, Dylan Myers, Carlee Myers, Madison Myers, and Maeghan Myers all of Palmer and Alexzandria Myers (Jed Long) of Anchorage, Shawn Brusin (Lacey) of Waterflow, New Mexico, Tim Brusin (Shay) and Lee Blodgett of Kirtland, New Mexico, Jeffrey Olson and Jenn Anne Olson of Gresham, Oregon and Stephanie Olsen of Medford, Oregon; great grandchildren, Aubryn, Rhiannyn, Laikyn Mary Ann, and Cole Brusin of Waterflow, New Mexico, Jay W. and Gage Brusin of Kirtland, New Mexico, Abbie Mae Blodgett of Kirtland, New Mexico and Aurora Lynn Sexton and Ein Doggett of Palmer.
Mrs. Olson was a 46-year resident of Palmer, having moved here in 1969 from New Mexico. Most notable during her life, Mrs. Olson was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to crochet and read. At the time of her retirement she was a Purchasing Agent for the Mat-Su Borough. She and her husband Alan, spent 23 years mining gold above the Arctic Circle before retiring.
A celebration of her life is at 2 p.m., Feb. 8 at the Palmer Moose Lodge.
She was a 39-year member of the Ladies of the Moose.
Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be scattered according to her wishes at a later date.
