Longtime Wasilla resident Mary E Olday, 55 years old, passed away October 19, 2021 at the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, AK. Mary was born 12/2/1965 in Idaho Falls, ID to Katherine and Oran Clements, and grew up with her family in Oregon from 1966-1981. She lived in Eagle River, AK from 1981 to 1982, and they moved to Palmer, AK in 1982 where she attended Palmer High School.
She married William J Olday on June 1, 1984. They had their first child Kristina in 1987, and their second William in 1990. Mary’s first job was a clerk at G&G Foodmart. After that she started working for Alaska Corporation General Contractors from 1988 to 1999, then started her own construction business in 1999 until her retirement in 2014.
She spent the rest of her years loving her husband, children, two granddaughters, her dogs, chickens, and all of her various hobbies. One of her passions was cooking for her family and friends during the holidays and summer BBQs. If you came to her home, she always fed you and took care of you. She was fierce in her love for others, and she was everybody’s Mom. She will be missed deeply.
As a way to honor and celebrate her life and the joy she brought others, Mary’s memorial was held on her birthday, December 2, 2021 at the Legacy Funeral Home in Wasilla.
