Mary Lee Hemphill, 86, passed away September 1, 2015 in Wasilla, Alaska.
Mary was born Oct. 21, 1928, in Leonville, Louisiana. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla on September 5.
Mary worked as a secretary for an oil company from 1955-1961. She was married to Robert T. Hemphill on the 30th day of June in 1962. Robert had passed away in 1996. Mary lived with her son Ervin until she moved to Alaska in 2010.
She liked painting, traveling, caring for her family, Agatha Christie’s mysteries, and Mozart. She was the sweetest, most caring and generous person you could ever meet. We will greatly miss her warm, kind nature and loving sense of humor.
Mary is survived by her children, JoJeana Gage, Sherwin Hemphill, Ervin Hemphill and Kerry Hemphill; her grandchildren, Alonzo Gage, Allison Lounsbury, Nyalie Barnhardt, Carson and Anna Hemphill, Kayla and Braeden Hemphill, Tia Hemphill, Rachel Hemphill, Cheleste Gottschalk, Jonathan Hemphill, Alina Hemphill, and Mache Hill; her great-grandchildren, Gabriel Lounsbury, Ethan Lounsbury, Charlotte Gottschalk, Robert Gottschalk, Aayan Birchfield, Jaeden Hemphill, Ethan Hill, Gavin Hill, Cady Hill, Weston Hemphill, and Jenna Hemphill; her daughters-in-law Lyla Hemphill, Rose Hemphill and Diane Hemphill; and son-in-law Alonzo Gage III.
Mary will have her final resting place at the Springhill Cemetery in Springhill, Louisiana.
