Mary Louise Borden, 98, passed away with her daughter at her side on March 27, 2015 in Wasilla.
A memorial service in honor of Mary will be held at a future date at First Presbyterian Church of Wasilla.
Mary was born on Jan. 21, 1917, in Denver, Colorado, to Charles and Stella (Paine) Barkley.
She lived in Alaska from 1959 to 1973 and again from 1998 until her passing.
Soon after her first arrival in Alaska, Borden began working for the state in 1960 and later retired in 1973 from the Department of Corrections in Juneau.
Mary was an active in Girl Scouts and a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Theron Borden.
Mary is survived by her only child, daughter Pat Karella Seguine; as well as nieces and nephews.
