Mary Arlene Schock passed away July 31, 2008 at Alaska Regional Hospital from cancer. She was 76.
All four of her children were present when she passed on to be with the Lord. A service will be at 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Alaska Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1015 S. Check St., Wasilla.
Schock was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Gorham, Maine, to Alfred and Florence Wilder. While living in Maine, she attended school in Gorham and graduated from Gorham High School. After high school, she married and started a family.
In 1965, the family moved to Alaska, arriving on the Fourth of July. While in Alaska, she lived in Eagle River, Anchorage and finally in Wasilla. She spent her working career at Carr’s Food Centers, starting as a cashier and was a customer service manager when she retired. Schock enjoyed her career with Carr’s, most especially the interaction with customers. She had a fiery Irish spirit, a dynamic sense of humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a voracious reader, loved movies and was a die-hard New England Patriots football fan.
Schock was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson Clifford Buswell; and great-granddaughter Kianna Kay Smith. Schock is survived by sister Shirley Hall of Casco, Maine; children Lindsay Knight of Kodiak, Stacey Buswell of Wasilla, L.K. Frizzell of Fox and Kimberly Lamont of Wasilla; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Schock was much loved and will be missed by many.
