Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mary Teri Bennett, 67, died March 16, 2012, at the Providence Extended Care Facility in Anchorage from natural causes. She was born May 4, 1944, in New York.
Mary was a nurse, and became a resident of Alaska in 2003, living in Wasilla. Before that she lived in New York and Florida.
She helped at the Wasilla Area Seniors Inc. Assisted Living Department, where she resided. She loved making jewelry, arts and crafts.
Teri was a special part of the WASI home. The employees and other residents there will miss her.
She will be remembered as having a kind heart.
“Lord bless this home, from which I came, yet brush each lonely hour away, with fond memories of my name, and a new sunshine for a newer day, look to the wind to find me there, beside the hardest thing you do. I left my love within this prayer. I’m always watching over you.”
Preceding her in death was her mother, Katherine Bennett; and, father John Bennett.
Surviving are sons, Peter Norris of Arizona and Paul Norris of New York; sister, Geri and Ray Meringer of Florida; brothers, John Bennett of Georgia and Kevin Bennett of Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; childhood friend of 66 years, Linda Foritz of New York; aunt Pat, uncle Kevin; many nieces and nephews; and many friends in Alaska.

Mary’s ashes will be scattered in New York at the Delaware River, and Florida.
