Mavis M. Rhoden, 77, of Seguin, Texas, formerly of Palmer, went to be with her heavenly father on April 21, 2010. She passed away in San Marcos, Texas. Ms. Rhoden was born in Santa Maria Clarendon, Jamaica on Sept. 10, 1933 to Frank and Zandrinda (Hornsby) Beckford. Mavis worked as a certified nursing assistant.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Gladys Jones of Seguin, Texas; grandsons and their wives, T.J. and Kendra Jones of Cedar Park, Texas and Samuel and Cristan Jones of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kiera, Kyzer and Kiya; sister, Hilda Joyce Beckford of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and brother, Linval Beckford of Santa Maria Clarendon, Jamaica.
A funeral will be held at the Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Ranch Road 12, San Marcos, Texas, on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Friends may call on the family from 1 to 3 p.m. preceding the funeral. Interment will be at a later date in Santa Maria Clarendon, Jamaica.
