Kim went on to complete the plumbers and pipe fitters local 367 apprenticeship program and continued to work through the Union Hall doing various welding and pipe fitting work around the State. She was known as a very hard worker and a good friend to all.
When she was younger, she enjoyed working at her parents’ goldmine with her brother and father and in the jewelry store owned by her parents. She was a Denver Broncos fan. Kim enjoyed golfing with her husband Mark Crowl. They had a membership at the Moose Run Golf Club for many years, and enjoyed golfing vacations in Hawaii, and Pebble Beach, California. She was active in the Women’s League at the Moose run golf course later in life after the love of her life, Mark Crowl, passed away on November 23, 2017.
Kim subsequently moved to Henderson, Nevada to live with her youngest daughter, Christy and her family. Kim especially loved spending time with her grandson, Colt William Nigh. She recently moved back to Alaska to get ready to retire where she reconnected with old neighbors and friends. Kim enjoyed reading, playing on the playground with her grandson, taking him to the Saturday market, visiting Barnes & Noble’s and taking Colt to haunted houses in October. She enjoyed playing board games with the family and especially enjoyed playing trivial pursuit. She was her grandson’s biggest fan and she was very proud of him.
Kim is survived by her daughters Tisa Peacock (Rob Becker), Christy Nigh (Steve), grandson Colt, sisters Judy Aklestad (Ron), Karen Stuart (John), and sister-in-law Cheri Mrak and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband Mark, Kim was preceded in death by her brother William Mrak, Jr, her nephews Ronald Aklestad Jr. and William Michael Mrak.
